Project title: Telemedicine as a tool for effective management of the health system affected by a pandemic caused by COVID -19
Acronym: TELEMED
ITMS Project Code 2014+: 313011ATK9
Brief description of the project: The main goal of the project is to implement a clinical study based on the use of a telemedicine system for patients suffering from COVID-19, or other respiratory diseases that require monitoring of temperature, respiration, ECG and other associated parameters. The aim of the project is to create a flexible system and comprehensive patient management in order to reduce the number of outpatient visits in order to perform routine examinations. Remote monitoring of the widest possible range of patients is an ideal solution to protect healthcare professionals and reduce the costs associated with routine patient examinations. This is the way to ensure social isolation, which is a key to reducing the spread of infectious disease, so that there is no uncontrollable situation, as in the case of the rapid spread of COVID-19 in certain parts of the world. The place of implementation of the project is the University Hospital with the polyclinic F.D. Roosevelt, where input data will be systematically obtained through the sharing of real-time telemedicine information from monitored patients. Through participating outpatient clinics and social services facilities, telemedicine systems will be provided to patients to monitor them, analyze their health in real time and limit outpatient visits. The precondition is the transmission of secure health data in the form of text, sound, images or in another form, with the aim of their prevention, diagnosis, treatment and subsequent care of patients. Chronic patients, including the elderly, represent the most at risk and vulnerable population at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
